GScript (Greek JavaScript) is a system for typing Modern Greek with a Latin-script keyboard using current versions of Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Netscape (unfortunately, for technical reasons it will not work with Netscape 4).
[See also our HelleniCode software for typing polytonic Classical Greek.]
GScript is much more than just a simple keyboarding tool: it incorporates the key fundamental features of the Greek language itself to make typing easier, faster and error-free.
Major GScript features include:
a "feel" for the language: GScript was developed by a team including fluent speakers of Modern Greek.
automatic accentuation: eg type episkopos and GScript will add the correct accent, giving you the Greek word επίσκοπος

To run the following demonstrations you must enable JavaScript in your browser. [How to enable JavaScript (opens a new window)]
expansion of definite article: simply type
Pjgame s Athjna<space> [or Aqjna<space>]
and let GScript expand this automatically to Πήγαμε στην Αθήνα. (NB The letter η is typed j in GScript.)
speed-typing shortcuts for the commonest words: eg eg i for είναι and c for έχει
Try this: hold your mouse cursor over any of these phrases to see how you would type them with GScript (full/abbreviated spelling): στους άλλους, των επιβατών, ένας από αυτούς, αλλά, που θα πας;
sending Greek e-mails
When you are happy with your Greek text you can paste it directly into an e-mail program such as Outlook Express.
