HelleniCode is much more than just a simple keyboarding tool: it incorporates the key fundamental features of the Greek language itself to make typing easier, faster and error-free.

Please note that HelleniCode is not a word-processing package: its purpose is to speed up the process of typing an initial draft, which can then be pasted into Word for further editing and formatting.

If your browser does not display the word Ἀθηναῖοι (Athenaioi) correctly, you will need to download one of the following Unicode fonts:

• Arial Unicode MS
• Athena
• Cardo
• Code2000
• Palatino Linotype
• TITUS Cyberbit Basic
• Vusillus Old Face

Major HelleniCode features include:

• a "feel" for the language: HelleniCode was developed by a team including classicists with a sound grasp of Ancient Greek.

• alphabetical input of diacritics (accents, breathings, subscripts): eg Plaatwn for Πλάτων, kaih for καὶ, hikanwvs for ἱκανῶς and twvy thewvy for τῷ θεῷ

• breathings added by default: eg type anjjr for ἀνήρ, raaydion for ῥᾴδιον and umivn for ὑμῖν

• alternative spellings can be used for certain letters: eg diafqeiirw or diaphtheiirw for διαφθείρω
